  • Chronic and/or intense worry and tension can leave you feeling exhausted, fearful, and irritable. Often unable to sleep with racing thoughts, you may even develop physical symptoms such as headaches and various body aches and pains. Anxiety experienced as panic, phobias, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, or traumatic stress reactions may confuse and worry you and your loved ones.

Fortunately, we offer effective and successful treatments for anxiety disorders. At The Counseling & Wellness Center, you will learn specific skills to reduce worries, gain new perspectives, and increase calmness and relaxation.

  • Depression is a serious illness that can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any age. Feeling sad, tearful, hopeless, worthless, and tired for extended periods of time are all significant signs of depression. Someone experiencing thoughts of suicide, insomnia or oversleeping, feelings of guilt, and a loss of interest in the normal pleasures of life may be suffering from depression. Children and adolescents often withdraw socially, have physical symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, and can become highly irritable.

However, there is great hope for those suffering from depression. Our experienced professionals at The Counseling & Wellness Center know how to guide you through healing and recovery from depression.

  • Sometimes we hurt the ones we love the most. Other times pain comes through misunderstanding and miscommunication. The intimacy of marriage and family creates a vulnerable space like no other that leaves individuals within the marriage exposed to both the joys and the potential pains of that vulnerability.

Our highly qualified and experienced professionals can help couples and families find healing, renew trust, and learn new ways to move forward in the deep intimacy they truly desire.

  • Do you wonder if your son or daughter ignores you like "all kids do" or really did not hear you as he claims? Ever think your kid bounces off walls way more and far longer than all the other moms' kids? Or maybe your child did well in grade school, but now in middle or high school, she is struggling just to keep up and feeling more and more anxious, and no one can figure out what's wrong.

All of these can be signs of potential ADD/ADHD or another learning disorder. At The Counseling & Wellness Center, we have experts who can tell you for sure.

Assessments for Learning Disorders and ADD/ADHD have come a very long way in the past 20 years, and experts can now differentiate between ADD/ADHD and other similar Learning Disorders that look the same on the outside but have very different causes on the inside and, therefore, require different treatment approaches. Don't let your kid get put in a box. Let our professionals help you figure out what's really going on.

  • Addictions destroy lives bit by tiny bit. That's what makes them so insidious. Addicts believe they can manage them because the destruction of family, career, and life comes on so slowly. But no matter the substance, alcohol, drugs, food, gambling, sex, shopping, or pornography, no matter the context of the addiction, destruction surely creeps in. Unless the addict gets help.

At The Counseling & Wellness Center, we are ready to help.

We have nationally certified addictions counselors and other highly experienced and qualified professionals waiting to help you help yourself regain control, stop the destruction, and take back your life.

  • Experts have known for decades what is finally coming into public awareness:

Our bodies store our memories, good and bad.

But we've also known that our brains and bodies are designed as great healers. Powerful pain-relieving and body-calming chemicals can be generated through relatively simple mindfulness techniques which, when used regularly, can aid in physical recovery from disease, chronic stress, anxiety, and depression and generate an overall sense of well-being, leaving you better able to manage life on a daily and long-term basis.

The professionals at The Counseling & Wellness Center can help you create and maintain balance and calm in your life.

  • Feeling rundown? Low on energy? Get enough hours of sleep but never feel rested? Finding less and less satisfaction in the very things you used to enjoy the most as other things crowd them out?

There are ways to increase our energy, see our situations in a hopeful rather than a hopeless light, and engage in self-care practices that can help us become more resilient in the face of stressors.

At The Counseling & Wellness Center, our experts in Mindfulness and Self-Care can help you get more out of your days and your nights.

  • Do you or does someone you love experience lingering, negative, deeply emotional responses to a traumatic event or events in your life? Do you or your loved one often continue to have nightmares, flashbacks, panic attacks, and anxiety about the trauma and/or events surrounding the trauma?

The field of knowledge about and treatment for PTSD has broken open wide in the past 10-15 years. Researchers today have mapped the anatomy of Post-traumatic flashbacks, developed an understanding of the neural pathways of fear, and cracked the code on the connections between the body and brain that cause the body to react to the traumatic memories as if they are happening all over again.

Armed with this breakthrough knowledge, treatments have been developed which offer more hope now than ever before for individuals with PTSD and their families. Let the professionals at The Counseling & Wellness Center help you rediscover a life of peace free from fear.

  • Anger plays an important role in letting us know when a real danger is present. But when no danger exists, or when our anger is disproportionate and gets out of control, it becomes destructive to ourselves, our loved ones, coworkers, and anyone we may come into contact with.

Getting a handle on anger not only reduces our unhelpful and destructive angry behaviors, but it can also be good for our health (reducing blood pressure increased by high states of anger and stress, reducing the presence of harmful stress hormones coursing through our bodies, etc.), and it can send a powerful message to the ones we love the most that they really do matter.

The therapists at The Counseling & Wellness Center understand the anger and how to help. Let us teach you Anger Management strategies today.

  • Loss happens to families.

    Grief is individual.

At The Counseling & Wellness Center, our caring and knowledgeable professionals know how to help.

  • Everyone has ups and downs, highs and lows. But with Bipolar Disorder, lives and relationships may be ruined by the extreme ups and downs of this serious illness.

The downs, or depressive side, of Bipolar Disorder may involve persistent sad mood, insomnia or oversleeping, loss of interest and energy, feelings of worthlessness, and sometimes thoughts of death or suicide. The ups, or the manic phase, can include Abnormally elevated or high mood, an over-inflated self-esteem, decreased need for sleep, constant talking, racing thoughts, and physical agitation.

There are a number of medications proven to help individuals with bipolar disorder. Psychotherapy and medication management with our qualified professionals at The Counseling & Wellness Center has assisted many who struggle with Bipolar Depression.

  • Spiritual beliefs often prove to be the most important factor in long-term healing and well-being for many therapy clients. Knowing that your therapist is on the same spiritual plane with you can make all the difference.

At The Counseling & Wellness Center, many of our trained and experienced therapists are Christians and/or believe in a higher power. Some have advanced training in Pastoral Counseling, Ministry, Theology, and Spiritual Healing that can be brought to bear in your treatment at The Counseling & Wellness Center.

  • All kids struggle from time to time. Occasionally, things happen that require a professional's help, even in the life of a child.

At The Counseling & Wellness Center, we have therapists trained and experienced in the delicate art of working with children and helping them heal and adjust to whatever life has brought them at such tender ages. Call our office for more information.
